He can’t brush of the fear, as he walks towards her at the airport. Certain bitter memory has crept up from the dark corner of his mind. The last time someone close to her dead, she went to Israel and never came back, punishing herself with suicide mission. It was a lifetime ago. Yet the pain he felt when he thought she was dead in her mission feels so fresh it suffocates him.

“Don’t do this,” he pleads.

The gum and the magazines is just an excuse. He needs to convince her this time. He needs to convince her that she still has family here, that they are willing to share her burden and pain of losing her father, and they will pursue the man responsible for this to the end of the world. She doesn’t have to do this alone.

But really. Maybe it is him who needs convincing. It is him who needs to know that she will not go find Ilan Bodnar by herself, putting her own life in danger for a revenge. He needs to know, that she will come back to them, to him. Because he couldn’t bear losing her. Not four years ago. Not now. Not ever.
